Applying The Paint

Note: When using paint from more than one container, it is recommended to mix all paint into a larger container prior to use to assure color and sheen consistency.

  • Using a Brush Correctly: Dip half the length of the bristles into the paint. Tap the brush gently against the side of the can but do not wipe it across the lip.
  • Hold Brush Comfortably: Hold handle near the base exerting light pressure with your fingertips. Exert enough pressure to make bristles flex slightly toward the tip as you begin the brush stroke.
  • Correct Roller Use: Roll slowly into lower end of tray. Roll back and forth until roller is well covered with paint. Roll back onto ridges in upper portion of tray. Lightly roll back and forth to remove excess paint.
  • Ceilings: Start in a corner, "cut in" (a 2" strip of paint where walls and ceiling meet). Work the short way of the room painting as wide a strip as possible. Avoid spinning roller by going too fast.
  • Woodwork & Walls: If woodwork and walls are to be painted, paint the woodwork first. "Cut in" around the edge of woodwork and where walls meet the ceiling. Use a roller to apply paint to walls. As roller will leave a different appearance in texture and color, roll as close to the edge of the woodwork as possible.
